The US state of California is currently the most important potential market for AE Photonics; with around one gigawatt of newly installed output power, it last year led the way in the US solar industry.

In November 2011, AE Photonics California LLC was founded in San Diego to further promote the strategy of internationalizing the company in this promising market.

Governor Jerry Brown plans to cover one third of California’s electricity requirements using renewable energy by 2020. To do this, PV systems with outputs of 12,000 MW will be erected locally, with the feed-in tariff trends to be discussed.

With insolation figures of up to 2200 kWh /m², the “sunny state” of California offers excellent natural conditions, particularly for developing photovoltaics.
